activity:
45 mins treadmill (2.1 miles), earned 4
daily total: -9

Feedback:
The salami obsession continues. Also with high protein items (nuts, trail mix, cheese, dairy, yogurt, sour cream). I love to cook a pasta lean cuisine and put it over steamed broccoli with some seasoned salt. It's a huge portion and makes you feel like a "real person" eating real food. I forced myself to do 45 mins on the treadmill because WW recommends at least 4 activity points a day.

Feedback:
My son and I have dinner together every Monday night (we live together, but this is our fixed night to be together.) We went to sort of a dive, but I got this tuna bite appetizer and it was filling and lean. I guess I had a sweet tooth today. That's what weekly points are for!

Feedback:
This evening was a meeting with some of the people in our wedding party so they could get to know each other a little better. I shouldn't be eating all my zumba points because I think that is something that is keeping me from losing better. I guess it's better than no activity, though.

salad/2 tbsp dressing

broccoli w/ feta on top
ice cream/chocolate syrup
wine

daily total: -18

Feedback:
A friend and I went out to the Beach Pub, which is sort of a greasy spoon. They had a crab on egg w/ hollandaise, which I thought meant crab meat. It meant a fried crab complete with legs. I'm not really sure how they thought anybody would be able to take a bite out of that. I had to deconstruct the whole thing and it was not tasty.

Dinner was at the home of a fellow Weight Watchers couple. The turkey burger, big salad with feta, steamed broccoli with feta and light dessert were great!

Feedback:
I had breakfast with a friend this morning and had a larger breakfast than usual. I made a fairly healthy choice for a diner. I don't think I ordered grits, but that's what she brought. I didn't eat much of them as I am not a big fan.

Every Friday night, we go to a friend's house, and that is why we had cake. I had a small slice and went back for 2 little thin slivers more. I had to ask someone to keep me away from it. It was deliciously good!

activity: 30 minutes treadmill, earned 2
revised daily total: 42.5

Feedback:
I wanted the pasta like I had last Saturday night. This was a round about way of getting it. It was tasty and I got some free veggies in!

I should have done 45 on the treadmill, but I just couldn't find the motivation. 30 a day is the goal, so I figured it was OK to do less time.

I had a real sweet tooth tonight and was antsy. I ate too much just sort of grazing and trying to curb my appetite. Some days are like that. It could be too much diet soda and the sweetness in that is making me crave more sweets.

limeade
subtotal: 16

daily total: 39
activity: 45 minutes treadmill, earned 4
daily total revised: 35

Feedback:
I think I did better today and ate more healthy meals. The lentil soup is leftover from last week and is still a good idea. Adding the sausage is something I wouldn't have done on the "old WW plan", but now on PointsPlus, it's a very filling and protein-filled option.

I'm glad I got in the treadmill today. I really didn't want to do 45 minutes, but I wanted to earn 4 points! Usually I don't mind the walking, but for some reason today it was tedious. I'm trying to cut back on the diet soda, so limeade is now my new substitute.

activity: 2 hours dance, earned 4
daily total revised: 45

Feedback:
I keep resisting having treats, but I've always found it's better to integrate them throughout the week instead of bingeing and letting it be out of control.

The mac n cheese is a prepared meal from the grocery store which I divided into 3, the recommended portion size. This is an indulgence, but it's really tasty and I had failed to plan anything for dinner. I think as long as I can resist eating more than I'm supposed to, it's OK.

subtotal: 19

daily total: 41
activity: 1 hour zumba, earned 12
daily total revised: 35

Feedback:
We spent 5 hours cleaning to get ready to move to my new place. I didn't eat much breakfast because we were rushing to get to the old place to meet my sister who was helping me.

My fiancee and I looked up the Subway points ahead of time and found out the flatbread is the same amount of points as half a sub. That was good to know because the flatbread is tasty and sometimes I like less bread.

Dinner was nice and light. Our family met at Moe's for dinner, but I didn't want anything there. It's hard for me to find healthy choices and I'd already eaten my dinner right after zumba. I brought an apple and my own can of diet soda so that I could be social with them. More and more, I need to do what's right for me despite pressure (or perceived pressure) to eat with other people even if I'm not hungry.

revised daily total: 35

Feedback:
Today's the day I usually have more treats since it's the day I weigh in. The dessert was a single serving lemon pie slice, but I only ate half of it. I saved the rest for another day. Dinner wasn't as good as I had hoped, but it was OK.

This week I'm going to try not to eat all the activity points I earn, and I'm going to ramp up my activity on non-zumba days. I had been using my dance class as my activity on those days, but I'm not sure it's intense enough.

Feedback:
The lentil soup was great. This really saved me. Good planning here. Having the sour cream with carrots instead of pretzels saves a lot of points. I'm back to the sour cream addiction. I know, I know. It's not a meal. And the trail mix.....I need to get away from it. The butterfingers are gone, thank goodness. I threw away the rest of the chocolate in the house. Too much temptation. I asked my fiancee to hide some things or take some things to work that I really didn't want. I just ate them because I saw them. I know, it makes no sense......!

I looked up the menu ahead of time for the brunch place and calculated everything up there. I didn't know what I was going to feel like eating, and I wanted to be prepared. I discreetly had my little menu written out. My sister was there and wanted to know how many points for the quiche (if she's doing WW, I don't know about it.) She was surprised by how many points (9) for quiche, and with the hash browns (9), neither one of us wanted to try it.

My food wasn't really good. Apparently I was the only person who didn't like their food. It took for-freaking-ever to get our food because 2 people at our table were late and the servers waited for them to take our orders (they didn't come until at least an hour later than they were supposed to) and then the servers wanted to serve us all at once (I guess.....)

I also researched the Panera points. I used to always get half a bacon turkey bravo and the french onion soup with a baguette side. Not anymore! Too many points for me for one meal. I got half the sandwich and it was nice and filling and I had an apple side and brought my own Coke Zero with me. (Yes, I am cheap, but I don't care.)

At my unofficial weigh in today, I stayed the same. Yesterday, I was stress eating and emotional eating. Today I attended my meeting and went grocery shopping. I still went off track and waited way too long to eat. I really cannot do this to myself anymore. It makes me feel terrible to eat too late, to skip meals and then be out of control.

Dinner was good. I almost bought a "full fat" alfredo freezer dinner, but then I realized I could get something reduced calorie and mix it with broccoli and the Aidell's sausage (or grilled chicken). My fiancee got the same thing and he was totally fine with it. He actually didn't like the sweetness of the sausage. I couldn't believe it was only 4 points for one link. It is extremely tasty and I cut it up into small pieces and put it in the alfredo with the steamed broccoli. We almost went out to eat, but I really didn't feel like it and I felt I had been too out of control (eating wise) and I just couldn't face the unknowns of a restaurant. Sometimes you just have to tell yourself the truth.

Weighed in today after missing regular Saturday weigh-in to attend my bridal shower out of state. I expected to gain and I did. I continued tracking, which is great and was certainly not something that was easy to post for everyone to see, nor was I proud of it. However, it was alright and I got back on track and I kept the faith. Everyone has peaks and valleys and this is a valley, but this is life.

They were trying to get rid of the lemon mousse bars at the WW meeting, but I really don't care for them.

I had a different leader than usual and I really didn't like some of her personal style (reading lots of rhyming poems).....it's just not me. I feel like I'm a kid in school. She makes her point (I guess....) to a certain audience, but it's not my thing.

I ate more junk than usual today and I also got caught out in my car without safe snacks. However, I did lay out a lot of snacks for home, starting planning my meals, threw out old stuff from the fridge, evaluated the fridge and freezer and pantry and got right back into what is now automatic for me.

It's a routine part of my life to think about my activity, how I'm going to get in my activity, what I need on hand to eat right and also what "treats" I'm craving that are plan safe that I can have. The whole prosciutto salami kick has been great. They are foods that make me feel like I'm being indulgent, but really aren't. Love it.

I tried to cut back today. We bought fat free milk and greek yogurt at the store. I was sick during breakfast and lunch. I'm not sure what happened, but I think it was something I ate. I was embarrassed to say that, since they had gone to so much trouble on all the food. I'm pretty sure it was the stuffed shells, because that was food we ordered from a delivery service because our car was out of service.

Dinner was at Olive Garden. I have discovered there really aren't that many options for me there, so I just let go of it. I enjoyed it. It was very tasty. I'm not going to lie! I just can't imagine eating like that all the time. All the entrees there are high in points. I had the apricot chicken once, which is a light option, but I didn't care for it. I only ate half of my entree.

Since our car was broken down, I couldn't go to WW or the gym. :( It was snowing, so....I couldn't even go for a walk.

Feedback:
I flew out of state today for my first wedding shower. I had to fly to DC and then to Michigan. From previous trips, I know it's better for me to bring some treats that I know the point value of so that I can have some foods to look forward to eating and that are also "safer" options. Though not always low in points, at least I have something I will want to eat and feel more in control of when/if I do eat it. I did not pack nearly enough snacks. I should have made a sandwich for the plane.

The food was good at the shower. I got to try some things that are typically made in Michigan and that my fiancee really likes. It was nice to be able to eat the food they are used to, and it gave me some ideas about what to serve when they come to visit.

I had already decided to enjoy myself since I figure I won't be having any more wedding showers after this one (and the one back home) are over! That's what celebrations are for. I got to taste a bit of everything on the first go round and then the second time I only went back for the things I really liked the best, or just couldn't resist.

Lately I have been craving prosciutto and salami. I have no idea why, but they are fairly low in points and something I never would have eaten on the old WW plan. So I'm glad I can indulge these little cravings. My fiancee actually remembered me mentioning this and he is the one that bought the prosciutto for me. (I wouldn't buy it because it was too expensive for my taste.)

After the shower, we stayed up late when the ladies had slumber party for me. It was really fun. We played Uno and then Disney Monopoly. I got to play with my future sister in law, my future mother in law, my fiancee's aunt and one of his cousins. We had a fun time and got to know each other better. I think I had a song for every spot we landed on. If they were tired of my "Cinderelly" song, and my "Under the sea" and my "la la la la don't be shy, ya ya ya, you want to kiss the girl" songs, they didn't show it. :)

Anticipated Obstacles and Possible Solutions

I'm going to my wedding shower out of state for four days and I won't have a lot of control over my food. This is my plan. Go to the gym in the town where I will be (I checked and there is a YMCA I can use.) Get back on track upon returning to town. Relax and enjoy the vacation.

Feedback:
I had a ton of food packed for going out to my parents' new condo. I also looked online ahead of time at the restaurant and found some healthy choices. I was very tempted by my fianee's Widowmaker pizza and I had one slice, which I enjoyed. The restaurant did not have nutritional information and I couldn't find any online.

For dinner, I really wasn't starving at the kids' pizza party, but it smelled good and that is one of my trigger foods. I resisted the cake they had and I intended to go to the gym after.

However, we both fell asleep because we were totally wiped out. I guess staying up too late last night assembling a file cabinet and setting up a new litter box and a new water dish for the cat sort of wore us out. (OK, well I was mostly supervising the whole thing!)

Then my son came home with a steak to cook. He wanted to go out to eat, but I just couldn't tackle a third meal out in one day, especially after using so many weekly points yesterday. I just told him to grab some takeout and come home and we would sit together. He came back with this $11 steak (who buys that?) and started cooking it while we watched the Star Wars movie where Anakin Skywalker goes bad. Then he decided to go to his girlfriends' right in the middle of everything. My fiancee didn't miss a beat saying "we will eat the steak, you go ahead." I guess it's a good thing we weren't having a dinner out for his benefit since he up and left in the middle. Sometimes you have to stick up for yourself (not going out to eat) because neither of us were hungry, we spent a lot on food the last 2 days and I really didn't want to spend the points on it.

Then I thought we should have just bought our own steaks last night and had them at home. Why not? It would probably cost less and we would get exactly what we wanted. So now I think once or twice a month, we will do that.

I was extremely happy to maintain the 5 pound loss and lose even more. Very, very happy. I go to the gym 6 days a week, I track, I stay within my points and weekly points, I hit most of the good health guidelines.......awesome!

I don't want anyone to think by not tracking well a few days this week that it helped me. I know it didn't, so please don't get that idea. I actually ran out of my 3 month tracker (had to buy a new one this Saturday) and I was tracking on the little weekly one they give you at the meeting, and on random sheets of paper. Maybe I lost one of the sheets. I know tracking is my success, so don't stray from it.

I'm also really proud I've been doing PointsPlus since it debuted on Nov. 29, 2010 and that is why I needed my new 3 month tracker at the end of February.

I love the control you feel when you track. You don't have to guess how you are doing, you just know. You don't have to over estimate or under estimate points, you just know. If you can't decide what kind of eating day to have, look at yesterday, and your week thus far, and you will know why you might feel deprived, or why you might feel uncomfortably full or cranky or have trouble sleeping.

I had my wedding dress fitting and it had to be taken in along the waist and hips. What an awesome feeling. To be the person I am on the inside. It's not just about "being skinny" for my pictures. It's about not holding back from living, all the things I was afraid to do or could not do before. I have way more energy now. I sleep better. I listen to my body more. I am more in tune with myself. I am more in touch with my emotions and I prioritize what I need to do for myself.

Feedback:
Another roadtrip. Learned from the last time and only ate out for a nice dinner. Packed a massive amount of my own food and made sure we had a room with a fridge for everything.

I packed a pack of string cheese, a pack of that pre-made chicken (3 portions in bag, 2 points per portion and it's a lot of chicken!), a bag of mini carrots, apples, bananas, almonds, 1 six pack of peanut butter crackers (on the theory that if I wanted a treat, the devil I know is better than the one I don't. They are 3 points per bag and pretty tasty.)

I think the strategy worked pretty well. If I just wanted to chew, I ate a banana, apple or carrots. If I needed protein or energy, I went for the nuts, chicken or cheese sticks.

Our friends suggested the all you can eat sushi, but both of us felt uncomfortably stuffed afterwards. It was not a nice feeling. It was $14 per person. Why can I spend that on a salad (one reasonable portion), but then feel like I need to eat 20 pieces of sushi because it's "free"? It doesn't make sense. I don't think I can handle going back there again (at least for now. Buffets and all you can eat are too tempting for me right now.)

We didn't really want the frozen yogurt, although it was fun to go. Next time, I'll pack some candy with me and munch on that, or pack a small dessert (a piece of rich chocolate) to enjoy while everyone else eats. I was doing it to be social and that's the wrong reason.

I got stuck at work and didn't eat the cinnamon crumb bar until 12:30. Luckily, I had it stashed in my purse from this weekend's WW meeting. It was very tasty. After that, I got the Starbucks drink, and I was getting really edgy and hungry because it was 2:00 p.m. I went home and got the rest of lunch, which I really needed to avoid a binge.

After that, I got stuck in another appointment until 5:30 and I was more hungry than I realized. I didn't get to eat until almost 6:45, at which point I had the chili so I could make a wise dinner choice.

I was glad I recognized I was full and stopped eating the salad. It will make for nice leftovers for tomorrow.

I planned to go to the gym, but I couldn't fit it in. Dinner was an unexpected outing with family. I admit, I could have done something else for dinner and gone to the gym. It was just one of those nights when a bunch of us were free at the same time and we really wanted to talk and spend some time together. We had a nice time and we got to linger and have some good conversations. My son sent me a super cute chipmunk video we talked about at dinner.

Even though I'm over my points for the week, I'm really proud that I am aware of this. In the past, I had imaginary thinking about my consumption and I would just blissfully ignore it and pretend it (the overages) didn't happen. I would tell myself the things I ate weren't that bad, or we walked around a lot while we were out looking for our restaurant, or I stood around so much at the swim meet that I must have burned my points off. I'd rather know what's going on because it makes me feel in control, and I own my choices.

I was actually really full at dinner and couldn't finish it all. I had the Twix mini to celebrate the real valentine's day. I made myself do 45 minutes instead of 30 so I could earn more points to get myself either out of the defecit, or to be able to eat more today, so I wouldn't feel frantic.

I lost 5 pounds since last week. I was really happy about that. My head and heart told me the up 3 pounds last week was from overdoing my weekly allowance the night before weigh in, and from sodium and mother nature. I was right, I guess!

It's kind of unbelievable to have this kind of loss this far into the program, so I'm really happy. I could tell my clothes were looser, I am down 2 band sizes, 1 cup size, and my skin is getting really loose and my body is changing. I knew in my heart my efforts would show. I was going to ask my leader to look at my journal if I had not lost this week.

Today, we went to my son's swim meet and then went out of town for Valentine's day. If there's any day I'd like to spend my whole allowance, it's the day I weigh in, to give me a whole week to get back in shape!

I used to spend my whole allowance every Saturday, but I haven't done that in quite a while. It's ok, though. I can handle it! This is why WW is a great program. Last Satuday, I had some drinks with the girls, and still lost 5 pounds this week! The key is to track everything and get your activity in!

I really do need to make a dining out primer. I am going to work on that. I made a poor choice at Chic-fil-A because I didn't know my options.

Dinner could have been much worse. We tried to go 2 other places where the wait was an hour long. No thanks! We don't need to spend $30 plus per person to sit in a chain restaurant where we can't hear. The Potbelly place was cute, had charm and was just fine with me. Otherwise, I surely would have had a steak and spent waaaay more points! Then we went to see "Gnomeo & Juliet", which we both enjoyed. No snacks for us at the movie theater. I was perfectly happy with my sandwich (very tasty, and not too much bread), and I brought in my own Coke Zero in my pocket. My fiancee wasn't feeling well and barely touched his sandwich. I knew we would probably have dessert, so there was no way I was going for popcorn.

We stopped at a Wegman's grocery (very nice place!) because I wanted some produce, but the bananas were all far from ripe. We are both grocery store geeks and seriously enjoyed the huge produce department and expansive restaurant eating section (!) and dessert section. We got a big piece of peanut butter pie to share ($5) and a bottle of wine to take back to our hotel. We each had one small serving of the wine and shared the pie slice, which we couldn't finish. We did look at the cupcake place on our way back to our car, but they were closed (the plan was to share a cupcake.) The pinkberry place, incidentally, had a line out the door.

I was perfectly happy with our non-traditional holiday. We don't need to spend a ton of money on a big dinner, get full past stuffed, go to a movie or show and have more snacks, and then pile on a huge dessert and alcohol. Instead, we scaled that back and had a great time on our terms. These were treats for me, definitely, but in my "old life", I would have probably eaten double this amount of calories. (I will admit, I was craving some nice prime rib. We will get it eventually, I am sure!)

Feedback:
I usually eat all my weekly points, but this week was super busy and I just sort of floated through the days. I enjoyed all the activity and tried to eat more filling foods. It kept me feeling more satisfied. I still had a lot of treats, but I kept track of them all and tried to keep a balance throughout the week. The big difference this week is that I didn't eat out much. I was really disappointed I gained last week, and I just wasn't willing to pay that price again. I can make more satisfying meals at home for much less money and not have to wonder what was in the meal I ate.

Slept late and combined two meals. The cup of chicken salad was not as great (points-wise) as I was hoping, but we were at a deli where I skipped the bread and just ate out of the little take out cup. When we got home, my fiancee and I measured how much was in the cup. I actually ate it over 2 meals. It was tasty, but too much mayo for me. I got my activity in, and felt great. I had been missing zumba. My muscles were a little tight and I felt bloated, but I got through it. I always feel good after I go to zumba!

I think eating out so much this week was a problem, along with not knowing how to calculate a lot of that food, and not planning my meals. Also, mother nature has conspired against me. All I can do is do better next week. I did go to the gym every day but one this week. I slipped on my good health guidelines, especially oil.

I had a 1 PM appointment that took 2 hours. I wasn't hungry going in, but I should have known better than to let myself be "getting hungry" on the way over. I went to Trader Joe's after, and that's how I ended up with the veggie crisps, gummi candy and animal crackers. I wanted to go hog wild, which I did for my new way of eating, but....wow. Bad decision. I knew it as I was doing it, and I didn't care. Sigh.

Feedback:
The greek yogurts are really filling and when it has the fruit in it, it's a nice sweet kick. Having a fruit with breakfast is perfect to stave off hunger.

Lunch was unexpected meeting with my dad. He wanted to go out, and I really couldn't think of a healthy option. I shouldn't have gotten that half of BLT. It had way too much greasy bacon. Most places skimp on the bacon and give you a big thick tomato slice and a little taste of bacon. Not this place! Now I know. Maybe I should keep a chart of our local lunch spots and my "go to" WW friendly things. The WW dining guide isn't great, in my opinion. It is made for the whole country and I haven't heard of 3/4 of the places in the book, or they are grease joints I'd never eat in.

I went to the gym and then to dance. I really wanted a toasted sandwich, so I made myself eat it slow to savor the ham and cheese. I toasted the bread (toasting is 0 points!) and then microwaved the meat and cheese on the bread. It was yummy.

I need to keep track of my points more during the day. I write stuff down, but when I don't know the points, I skip over and figure I'll do it later. That's bad because I always estimate wrong. I had the snack thinking I had points leftover, and then realized I didn't. Uggggg. Oh well.

My son is sick today, so I hope he feels better tomorrow. We all need to take care of ourselves during flu season and this time of year which is already so dreary!

Got in a lot of fruits and veggies, 30 mins activity, 2 dairies, carbs were whole grain, multivitamin....good day!

Zumba was OK. We had a teacher who I think is new to zumba. I think she's still getting the hang of things. The choreographies were repetitive. One girl I know left in the middle of class. She kept rolling her eyes and you could tell she wasn't having fun.

We did "Livin' La Vida Loca" and every single chorus was a move that made me feel like a cheesy cheerleader from the 80's for the approximately 15 times he says the same thing over and over, she just wanted us to do the same silly move. Oh well. I just ramped up my intensity and bent my knees more. There was no way I wasn't getting in my full hour!

One of the bellydance inspired routines had an offensive crotch thrust. It was obvious she had no clue that this dance actually comes from a culture and isn't just about wearing coins and doing awkward moves. She really had some "un-musical" elements in this song. We also did a flamenco routine that was pretty scary!

My fiancee and I made dinner together and he made a special effort to plan a meal that would work for me. He helped me chop stuff up and went to the store to get the ingredients. It was nice to eat together and spend some time doing something healthy together. Kudos!

Feedback:
I didn't journal a lot today, obviously. We did a bunch of errands and actually I know I didn't eat that much before dinner. I slept in late, then we went to lunch and then got my fiancee a haircut and then I had to go to my son's swim meet.

I did zumba at a different location (actually, where his swim meet was), so I was proud that I had planned that ahead of time and that I brought my sneakers etc with me. It would be easy to say that he has a swim meet and I can't go to my regular class, so I can't exercise today. It was zumba circuit and it was pretty different. There were some creepy people there that made things a little awkward.

The pace overall of the class was pretty slow. The teacher kept scrolling through her iPod to find the songs, which I didn't think was a good idea. Once you get your heart rate up, I thought you were supposed to maintain it. A few times she asked what we wanted to do (this song, or that song?) which I have never seen either.

Originally, when she said we were using weights and resistance bands, I was a little nervous. However, in the end I think I kept up more than some of the regulars, but that was mostly because the choreographies were quite repetitive and used the same moves over and over. I think the instructor was underestimating how quickly people would catch on, and she seemed to want to "go easy on us". I don't want that at zumba, I want to work! Oh well!

Feedback:
I always eat after my meeting, and I was super hungry today. I know I shouldn't do that, but I just can't stand the thought of weighing in with a meal on my stomach.

I met my girlfriend for lunch at a Salvadoran place with really good food. I had planned for this indulgence. Saturday after weigh in is the best time for it. I also had been craving cake since my birthday almost a month ago (my sister did make me a cake, but I had really wanted a piece from a certain bakery. It's just a thought I couldn't get rid of.) I decided to get that, but I got tempted by 2 sugar cookies also. They were delicious, bright pink and red and shaped like hearts for valentines. It made me feel like a kid!

Dinner was pretty healthy in the form of sushi. I sort of had to drag myself there as I was tired after dance rehearsal. I just didn't feel like putting on makeup and finding a cute outfit to sit in a restaurant downtown. We ended up going, and it was fine; I recouped some energy and pulled myself together.

Dessert was from my fiancee who ran to the store to get me a heating pad for my ear infection and some nasal spray. I know that sounds bizarre, but my eustachian tubes periodically get dry (or something weird like that), and this is the cure. It really helped. He grabbed me the Weight Watchers candy as a small treat (I asked for spice drops, but they didn't have them.) Under the old Points, they were 1 pt per serving and now they are 4! Wow! But they are quite tasty. I hid them, so let's see if I convince myself to remember where they are......or not......!

I packed an orange for breakfast and forgot it. I was starving by 12:15 when I could leave for lunch. I thoroughly enjoyed soup, soft roll, rice and small meat entree for $6.50. Can't beat that!

Dinner was not at a place of my choosing. I had to improvise. I got an appetizer. They said the tortilla had to be fried, otherwise it wouldn't hold the pizza on top. OK, well I tried. It was a light dinner, which I probably shouldn't have gotten as I was not really that hungry.

I got some gym clothes today 50-60% off at Sears. They were having a great sale on NordicTrack brand tops and pants. I got some nice pants for zumba for only $16 (sort of like compression tights or running pants.) Nice!

I had my vitamin today. Not enough fruit/veg. I got in my dairy. Didn't plan that well. I didn't do the grocery shopping either. I can at least pop into a grocery store and restock on apples, bananas and oranges......!

I overdid the chili. I was full, stuffed, and I kept eating. It was sooo good. And after that, I wanted chocolate, I wanted candy....I don't know why. I didn't eat it. And I didn't go to the gym. Ugggggggg. I guess today is my missed day for the week!

Back on track tomorrow. I need to hit the grocery store for more fresh foods.

Woke up late and skipped breakfast. That messed me up the whole day. I didn't plan my meals well, but I got in lots of activity. I enjoyed the taco. It was a splurge. But I earned it with activity! Ha!

Zumba was great. The instructor totally kicked our butts. I thought I might have to quit once or twice, which I have never felt in 7 months of zumba. I had a side stitch and my back hurt. Oh well. I didn't quit!

Self critique:
I was really glad I lost this week. Almost a pound. Even after using a lot of my weekly allowance last night, and having foods with sodium. (A binge for me is what last night was.) I got in activity every day but one. I made good choices; I tracked what I ate. I got in the healthy guidelines most of the days.

I still had indulgences (marshmallows, chocolate etc). I need them to not feel deprived. I usually eat my whole weeks' allowance and I still lose. That was today's meeting topic, too.

My fiancee ate dinner with me tonight. We agreed to eat dinner at home together at least once a week. Upon prodding, his requests were beef tips and gravy and spaghetti with meat sauce. I made a huge batch of ground beef with onions and peppers and I saved more than half for another night. I'm not sure what it will be in (maybe chili), but it will be a great timesaver to have it on hand.

I almost bought gravy out of a jar, but I thought it would be more WW friendly for me to cook some of my own. I don't know what cut of meat beef tips is (uh, is it called beef tips?), so I skipped that for now.

Self critique:
Today was a bad day.

Later (before going to a friend's house, where they always have cake), I thought my fiancee said we were stopping for dinner first. (I was going to have a sub without bread "sub in a tub" from Jersey Mike's. I've never eaten there, but it sounded like a treat.) However, we got in the car and he said we didn't have time to eat before going to the friend's house.

I was mad, but it was a misunderstanding. I just would have eaten at home with my "safe" food. He often says that he gets hungry, but skips a meal and "the hunger pains go away". I am NOT that kind of eater. We have really different eating habits, so it could become an issue at some point between us. A few times before we left, a voice in my head told me to eat. I need to listen to that voice. I've gotten pretty good at it, and I know when I am "a little hungry" that it could easily get out of control into "I have to eat now" and then to "I will eat anything in sight".

Someone had made sushi and brought it to the gathering. It was good, and sushi is pretty low in Points. I had already planned to have a small piece of cake (if it was the kind I like. I'm a little picky about cake.) So....yeah. I just snacked a lot tonight.

I had to force myself to go to zumba because I was in a bad mood and I was really tired. However, I knew zumba would make me feel better, and it did. And it also made up for overeating a bit today.

Self-critique:
Ate a better breakfast today, but I put too much instant coffee in my milk and it was undrinkable. I drank 2 cups later, though.

Lunch was very filling. I didn't actually eat dinner until 10 PM, which is very late, but I wasn't hungry. I drank a ton of homemade limeade (2 bottles of seltzer water and one frozen limeade tube) and I used power foods, so I guess that's why.

I didn't feel like going to the gym and I had a meeting to go to, so I just ran out of time. I have zumba tomorrow and I look forward to that.

subtotal: 21

activity: zumba, 1 hour, 12 pts
daily total: 37
used: 8 activity points
weekly allowance remaining: 22 + 6 activity points (I probably won't use these)

Self-critique: I didn't plan breakfast well and I had to choose something really quick at the last minute. Took vitamin. Got in tons of liquids today and the necessary dairy.

I didn't plan well for dinner and I was starving when I got home from zumba. It's not a good idea to let yourself get hungry.

Zumba was great. There were a lot of new people tonight and we had at least 1 new song, and 2 I am learning. I have a pair of shorts I wore tonight I never would have worn before. I used to wear them under another pair, but I hadn't planned out my gym clothes that well and I had to wear what I had. It actually looked good. It was sort of weird seeing myself look a different way.

I could tell my thighs are smaller. We all know it's hard to lose weight there. It's kind of exciting. Today a lady at work said she noticed I was losing weight. It's fun to see people's reactions.

Self-critique: Got back into better eating today. Kept track of power foods. Still could have done better on fruits/veggies, although the lentil soup is full of veggies. Got in healthy oils, but not my regular dairy. (I guess I still got in 2 non-fat dairies, though.) I did an extra 10 minutes on the treadmill than I usually do, so I got in my minimum 30 minutes. Took vitamin. Grains were whole wheat.

Self critique: Got in my healthy oils, fruits and veggies, non fat and low fat dairy, whole grains, lean proteins and liquids. Didn't take vitamin. Got in 30 minutes of activity. Didn't drink alcohol while out at the bar/restaurant with some friends. There were a lot of chocolates around the house, but I only had 1 piece.

Made a bunch of meals for the week. Ate carrots with the guacamole instead of chips. Made a batch of slow cooker lentil soup for later in the week. Froze the remaining ground turkey for burritos in the future. It's frozen in 2 bags so it won't get frost on it and it's duly labelled.

Threw away old food in fridge and freezer and took stock of what we have. Money is tight, so I'm not going grocery shopping this week unless it's for fresh produce. I have plenty of food stockpiled for times like this.

I got in my healthy oils and dairy, the protein I had was lean, the guacamole was delicious but very tempting. Enjoyed the sweetness of the homemade wheat pancakes. Saved some of that turkey bacon for meals later in the week. I made a big batch of the kielbasa stirfry full of veggies to eat later in the week, as well as a larger batch of couscous than I needed. Also got back to the gym! Yay. But I still have a bit of a cold. Ugg.

New tracking week. Back on track as far as keeping my journal. I really wanted a donut later in the day, but got Ho-ho's instead. I should have just gotten the donut. I think I would have enjoyed it more. I have a real sweet tooth these days. Maybe because I feel deprived from being sick?

I got in my dairy today, but not the 5 fruit and veggies. No activity today.

Self critique:
Poor planning on lunch. Got up late to talk to my mom about wedding plans and then went to a bridal show with my sister. I didn't eat any of the cake samples, which was good. Honestly, it was because the lines were too long, I was claustrophobic and I figured I didn't need a sample anyway. I feel like I just volunteered myself to get a lot of unwanted phone calls and e-mails. I really didn't like the predatory attitude. I have made most of my wedding decisions, but it was good to brainstorm some new ideas and get some DJ vendor business cards.

I went straight from there to shopping for a dress for a dance routine I'm in. I had fun hanging out with some new friends. I tried on some dresses they picked for me and they kept teasing me that I didn't think I looked good and they said I did. It was nice to see the change in me and how well some things were fitting. That really made me happy. Some styles I haven't ever tried for once looked good on me. That was really exciting! The dress I picked was pretty inexpensive and that was also great.

For dinner, I made the mexican inspired soup full of veggies. I am not sure I liked how tomato-y it tastes. Honestly, it's like soupy veggies. It definitely was healthy, there's no denying that! It also did have a little kick. If you ever want to clean out your insides, have some of this soup! I think I would serve it over brown rice. Otherwise, you'd feel like you were eating medicine or something.

The stew was just a crockpot stew made with many of the same veggies as the soup. I like to cook big batches of stuff on Sunday to have for the whole week.

I also cut up a bunch of carrots, red peppers and some other veggie I can't remember now and portioned them out into containers for the week. Maybe I could go back to eating sour cream but without the pretzels? Let's see!

1 cookie/very small piece of pie/fruit and whipped topping

subtotal: 33 + 20 = 53

Self critique:
Parties are tough. First of all, it started to snow while I was at the grocery store stocking up on healthy stuff for the week. I sort of thought the party might be cancelled, and I really didn't want to drive in snow. But the snow stopped, and I had to adjust.

I didn't eat enough earlier in the day, and I was super hungry on the way to the party. I had the greek yogurt in the car to take the edge off. My main concern at the party was avoiding alcohol, because I eat more when I drink.

I think I did alright. It could have been worse. I kept my drink full of diet coke so nobody would refresh my drink with more alcohol. I sipped it very slowly. I tried to fill up on the veggies and fruit, and the lean meats (turkey and pork tenderloin appeared to be cooked quite leanly.) The desserts weren't my trigger foods, so those were easy to not overdo. The arroz was excellent and I certainly could have eaten more of that. Overall, we talked and listened to music and that was distracting enough to keep me from eating. It was also a fancy party, so it was not the kind where you eat the whole time and stuff your face. Obviously, this was an extreme day, but in the old days, I would have eaten until I was bursting and then taken a ton home and eaten more. (The hostess graciously sent us all home with food, as she always does.)

Self critique:
Went to the gym before my nephew's birthday party. I went to a different branch of the Y even though I'd given up on going to my regular zumba class. Then I remembered I could go to a different branch and squeeze in some exercise. I bought some exercise pants today, but they didn't fit (too small compression tights.) I just worked out in my work clothes. Who cares? I got activity in!

I hadn't planned to eat at this restaurant. It's very hard to find something healthy, but I was very hungry. I think I did well and I piled on a bunch of free veggies onto the burger. The bun was very good! I only stole 8 fries. I kept track of them. They were tasty, and it was enough.

Didn't eat lunch till 3:30, which was a horrible mistake. I was starving and the sandwich ended up being a bad choice. Didn't get enough veggies in today. I never had my typical second cup of milk, which I always notice makes a huge difference in my appetite. I felt tired and run down and decided not to go to they gym. Today had a lot of bad decisions (eating-wise) in it. Better tackle this tomorrow to turn it around!

Self critique:
The breakfast really made me satisfied for a long time. That was a better breakfast than I have been eating.

Got in healthy oils, lean proteins, liquids, reduced fat dairy, wheat grains, at least .5 hours of activity, didn't take multivitamin, got in 5 servings of fruit and veg.

I often seem to be waiting for some sort of occasion to eat. I really equate food with splurging or celebrating, even celebrating the ordinary. The thing is, nobody else cares what I eat. Everyone I live with or spend time with doesn't eat with me much. They all do their own thing. So why do I keep caring what they're doing before I decide what to eat? It really makes no sense.

I know I shouldn't complain, since at least I don't have to make tons of meals per day for other people, but it's sort of lonely sometimes.

We have nowhere nice to sit, either. I wish we would all sit together more and eat together, not just watching TV, but spending time together.

I do the grocery shopping for 2 houses, so that definitely is something I am responsible for, but I don't mind it. I guess I equate food with comforting other people and taking care of them. Now we know that's not really the way it should be, but as a woman, it's sort of ingrained into us, isn't it?

This has been on my mind for a while, and I think it really affects how I eat. I sort of graze all day long, but most of what I eat isn't a "meal" per se.

I think that's what makes people think I'm doing something wrong, but that is the beauty of Weight Watchers. Eat what you like; eat what works for you. Everybody's lives are different.
